The Clear River Canyon is a marvelous example of Colombia’s biodiversity and the efforts of both public and private sectors to protect and conserve the environment. About a 3-hour drive from Medellin, the biome here is the exclusive home to some 700 species of mammals, birds, reptiles and fish (not to mention insects). We’ll pick you up in the morning from your hotel and take you to this wonderland of natural beauty.
Enjoy a traditional lunch when you arrive, at a restaurant located in the central square of a nearby pueblo, offering a menu of Creole dishes. Consistent with our philosophy of social inclusion, all the employees here belong to the local community. In particular the staff of the restaurant is made up of women heads-of-household. You will be welcomed by a guide who is a member of the local LGBTQ community. After lunch, participate in your choice of activities that focus on providing positive outdoor experiences that will also expand your knowledge about our invaluable natural resources. All activities are coordinated by the Reserve and its trained Guides. Note that activities are dependent on prevailing weather conditions but include: Rafting, Zip-lining, Caving, Rock Climbing, Hiking/Trekking, Bird Watching.
Although we offer as a day tour, we recommend at least one night here in order to fully experience nature and awaken your senses. This is not a luxury resort; accommodations here are basic but include full private bathrooms. A minimum of 30% of the income generated here goes back into research, preservation, community support, education & redevelopment.
Included in your experience is breakfast, non-motorized watersports like kayaking and paddleboard, fishing, stargazing, nightly bonfires and exploration of the area’s flora and fauna.
